Michelle’s walk to the top of Mount Snowdon

December 11, 2014

Michelle Burd, who was born with a cleft lip and palate, completed an epic trek up Mount Snowdon accompanied by a friend who is an experienced walker to raise money for CLAPA.

In her words:

On the 11th November 2014 we walked up Mount Snowden using the Llamberis track which is the longest route to the summit. When we set off at about 9 am it was dull but dry but shortly after starting my walk it started to rain and I soon realised my waterproofs weren’t quite as waterproof as I first thought! It was also quite windy! I was determined though that no matter what the weather threw at me I was going to get to the summit. We reached the summit at approximately 12:45 but when we got there visibility was poor and unfortunately we couldn’t see the surrounding area. We had lunch then started to make our way back down stopping frequently to take pictures. The lower we got the clearer it was and the more we could see. On the way down I was buzzing and extremely happy that I had done what I had set out to do. We reached the bottom at approximately 4pm so overall it took us about 7 hours to walk the total distance of 975 metres.

Thank you Michelle for all your support and raising a total of £351.75!
