Co-Create Our Future Together: Join a CLAPA Adult and Family Co-Development Workshop

Do you want to decide and be a part of what the future looks like for CLAPA and the cleft community? We believe our community’s experiences, insights, and ideas should directly shape the community and CLAPA’s future.
In this 90-min online interactive session you’ll join other adults with a cleft, parents, carers, and family members, to share experiences, imagine new possibilities, and co-develop solutions.
You’ll participate in a ‘Visioning Conversation’ to explore our community’s hopes and priorities and a ‘Solution Sprint’ to get practical about what CLAPA and the wider community can do to work toward the vision. The conversations and work from this session will then be used to create the CLAPA strategy for adult and family services.
You’ll be available to:
Attend one of two sessions:
Tuesday 2nd December at 10am-11.30am
OR
Wednesday 10th December at 7pm-8.30pm
Who should come?
- Adults born with a cleft (of any age or stage of life)
- Parents and carers
- Partners and family members supporting someone with a cleft
Sessions are open to all, but we especially want to hear from voices often underrepresented, who include:
- Young adults (18-25)
- Those from Northern Ireland
- Those from Southern Asian communities and cultures
- People who speak English as a second language
- Men born with a cleft, or fathers, uncles, and/or grandfathers
- Those who may not have engaged with CLAPA before
This workshop is not for professionals, clinicians or researchers, there will be different ways for you contribute at a later date.
What will you get out of it?
- You’ll be able to see your contribution in the CLAPA adult and family service strategy
- You’ll have opportunities to stay involved in testing ideas and leading future projects
- You’ll make connections with others who understand your journey and want to be a part of making the future better for the community
The session isn’t a webinar, and we aren’t just going to seek your feedback on what has already been created or decided. It is an open session, we need your thoughts, insights and leadership so the future of CLAPA’s services, are truly representative of community. You can read more about our commitment to community empowerment in CLAPA’s Strategy.
There are just two rules for the session: (1) We want everyone that comes to participate either through writing or conversation and (2) we want everyone who participants to be strength focused.
We look forward to hearing from you.
“Real co-development for me is sharing the power with the cleft community so they can direct the focus and choose the direction and solutions. It’s hard to let go of control but it’s worth it.” – Lucy, Family Services Coordinator, at CLAPA
