New Opportunity: Document Review

July 19, 2023

CLAPA is creating various different resources, and our latest one is a template letter that parents can give to the secondary school when their child reaches this stage.

Our Community Engagement Coordinator has created a letter and would like your views and feedback.  Two teachers have already shared some useful comments.

View the letter.

A few things to note:

  • We have tried to keep the letter fairly short – feedback from teachers is that they have very little time to give these sorts of things the attention they deserve, so we have kept it to the essentials with further information in the links.
  • As you can see, there’s a larger focus on the psychological rather than the physical impact. The thought process is that the school will likely overlook this area. They are much more likely to ask parents about physical challenges. This also aligns with the feedback gathered in the survey/at events. It would be helpful to get everyone’s thoughts on this, though.
  • When this eventually goes out, it will be sent in a PDF format for parents to add info into the gaps and then print it off and send to their child’s school.
  • The aim is that CLAPA can send it to everyone in the database of the appropriate age.
