Latest news

We believe people affected by cleft should have a voice in the decisions that shape their lives. That’s why CLAPA’s campaigns are rooted in lived experience, backed by evidence and focused on achieving practical change. We work collaboratively with the cleft community, healthcare professionals, policymakers and partners to improve services, influence policy and tackle the issues that matter most.

Our campaigns focus on improving access to care, reducing inequalities, strengthening specialist services and ensuring that people affected by cleft can access the support they need throughout their lives.

Campaign: End the Cleft Dental Crisis

Cleft is for life — and so are the dental challenges that come with it.

Yet people born with cleft are disproportionately unable to access vital dental treatment, with some even being denied care outright. This must change.

We are calling for guaranteed lifelong NHS dental care for the one in 700 people born with a cleft in the UK.
