What can YOU do this week?

It’s the second day of Awareness Week, and we’re keeping the momentum going with another Sponsored Walk up in Newcastle, as well as events and activities across the country.

CLAPA is a charity which relies on the generosity and enthusiasm of people like you to fund our services. Every year during Awareness Week, hundreds of you join in the fun by coming up with new and inventive ways to raise funds for CLAPA and get people talking about cleft lip and palate. Even if you haven’t got anything planned for this year, it’s not too late to join in!

Helen dressed up in a different costume each day of the week to spell C-L-A-P-A in one of the most creative fundraising challenges we’ve ever seen! Here she is in CLAPA News.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE: Think about how you can use this week to fundraise or raise awareness at your place of work, your school, college, book club, local pub, or anywhere you think could help you make a difference.

To help you get started, here are our top three ideas for fundraising at work this week:

  1. ‘Dressed by the kids’ – have your kids pick your wardrobe for the week, and get your workmates to sponsor you. It’s a great chance to celebrate Awareness Week, and you’re sure to get everyone talking. Bonus points if you send us some funny photos!
  2. Cakes & Collection Tins – be everyone’s favourite colleague by bringing in a selection of home-cooked (or not!) cakes. Ask our fundraising team for a collection tin and one of our Awareness Week posters, and pop them nearby with a photo of you or your child.
  3. Penalty Jar – Turn bad behaviour into fundraising gold by banning something for a week and getting offenders to pay a penalty. It could be anything from swearing to hitting ‘reply-all’ to one too many emails – whatever you think there should be less of!

Get in touch with our fundraising team for any last-minute materials, and of course don’t forget to send in your photos.

You’ll be surprised at what a big difference you can make just by sharing your story and asking others to support a cause close to your heart. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
