Emma Shuttlewood is conducting research on The Development of an Appraisal Measure for Cleft Lip and Palate Services
This study aims to explore the way in which parents understand and think about their child's cleft. Research suggests that the meaning parent's attribute to their child's cleft may affect how well they cope. Some families may sometimes find it difficult to cope with having a child born with a cleft lip and/or palate and other families may not. We are hoping to develop a questionnaire that can be used to help further understanding of how parents think about their child's cleft and to help identify those families that may find it more difficult to cope. We are looking for as many mothers and fathers to complete a number of questionnaires online in order to help us develop our questionnaire.
Do you have a child aged 1-16 who was born with a cleft lip and/or palate?
