The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) is part of the NHS and one of the areas of work it funds is research that will lead to patient benefit. They are looking for someone with experience of cleft lip and palate who is interested in research or development of multimedia to review an application they have received for a project: "Family experiences of cleft lip and palate: development and pilot testing of a multi-media web resource".
Lay reviewers are paid £50 per project and it normally takes a new reviewer about 3-4 hrs over a few days to review a project. NIHR will provide mentoring and assistance throughout the review process to help you with the review.
They are very committed to getting the patient perspective on the applications they receive and this is a great opportunity to influence research at the initial stages.
The deadline for completing the review is 31 August (with some slight room for delay) so if you would like to get involved please contact us and we will put you in touch with NIHR.
