How to organise your CLAPA fundraiser
The most important thing about fundraising is to start early and construct a plan. It may seem daunting at first but keep at it and you’ll reach your target or even exceed it!
Planning
Start recording your ideas early. You’ll be amazed at what you can come up with.
Think about the time of the year in which you are planning you fundraiser. This can be helpful in deciding a theme or direction for your fundraiser.
Below are some tried and tested ideas that you may want to use or innovate to your specific needs.
- Concert/Ball/Themed Party
Big events like these take a long time to plan but often raise a lot of money. Make sure that you get as much as possible for free such as the venue, entertainment and associate printing if you plan to make posters.
- Golf Day/Five-a-side/Walk/Cycle
Sporting events are often a great way to get people involved in fundraising. Charge teams for their entry into golf days and five-a-side tournaments. Maximise your fundraising by selling cakes and tea.
- Pub Quiz
Ask your local pub if you can hold a charity pub quiz and charge teams an entry fee.
-Work / non-uniform days
Organise a non uniform day where each employee donates £5.00 for not wearing their suit. For example wear jeans for CLAPA / Wear blue for CLAPA.
-Schools
Appeal to schools and ask if children and parents can donate their pennies to CLAPA.
-Raffle/Auction
You are only able to hold a raffle if it is part of another charity fundraising event. Otherwise you will need to register your raffle with your local authority before you can start selling tickets.
Again, ensure you get as many prizes and lots for free to maximise fundraising.

I am keen to organise a charitable event as my daughter was born with a cleft lip and is now nine and her surgery has made such a difference to her.
Could you please sent me some advise about possible events/legalities. I work in a school and wondered if there were any packs of information in order for me to set up an event.
I look forward to hearing from you
