Hello! After what feels like a very long wait since my 20 week scan my baby boy was finally born by c-section 4 weeks ago. His name is Oliver and he is utterly amazing and I fell in love with him immediately. I had spent every day worrying about bonding issues and feeding etc and i wish i hadnt wasted so much energy! he is beautiful! Born with wide right side cleft and full palate both sides. weight was a healthy 7pound 14 ounces.
When he popped out all I thought was ‘yeah what i expected and really not that bad’. I couldnt get over his dark hair as our daughter was born with ginger hair I thought he would be the same. Also couldn’t believe how tiny he looked and therefore how incredibly tiny the cleft looked! For all expectanats mums out there, Oliver has a wide cleft but it still looks so tiny coz it is only a gap in his lip after all.
I am expressing my milk and feeding with squeezy bottle every 3 (ish) hours. All the horror stories i read haven’t come true. He gulps his milk like its his last. No milk down his nose or spluttering. He also sleeps well.
His first op is due about 12 weeks.

Thankyou so much for posting this. We are expecting our little man next month and generally I am okay but do have the odd moment when I worry about bonding, feeding, what else might be wrong etc. I really can’t wait to meet him, I love him so much already!
